The loch has had a very good weekend with some excellent bags of fish. On Friday, Falkirk FC had 28 fish for 75lbs including one at 9lb 4ozs and one at 7lb 9ozs. On Saturday, George Peline and Partner, from Glasgow, had 10 fish for 29lbs; Craig Cowan and partner from Winchburgh had 12 fish for 42lbs – again one at 9lbs and one at 7lbs. The lads were fishing snatchers and found the fish high in the water. This at the top end of the loch [East end]. Colin Harkness landed 6 fish for 22lbs on Sunday and returned a further 6 fish, including an estimated 8 pounder. The Bridge Inn AC Linlithgow did not fare so well, but managed 13 fish for 37lbs including a six pounder. Mostly Rainbows being caught, with a sprinkling of blues and the odd quality Brown. Best flies are snatchers and diawl bachs and best lures blobs, boobies and dancers. Lines are floaters and sink tips

Last Thursday, Mr McDougal had a superb bag including a 5lb Brown and 2 x 5lb Rainbows. On Friday Mr McDonald had two Rainbows – one at 8lbs and one at 7lbs.
On Sunday Khats Whiskers AC had 42 fish for 125lbs. This included one x 9lb; one x 7lb; two x 61/4lb and one at 5lb. In the evening, Mr Clark had an eight pounder as did Loch regular Jim Russell. Mr Allan had one at 6lb and another at 5lb.
The weed is easing back – plenty of fishing water – clarity very good.

The loch continues to fish well. Some very good fish have been caught in the last week. Last Cast AC managed 24 fish for 97lbs; this included seven fish between 5 and 9lb. Balbeggie AC had 50 fish for 160lbs and again this included more than a few 7 – 8 and 9 pounders.
Best flies are Diawl Bachs and crunchers. Fish on a washing line, set up using a FAB on the Point. Best to fish along the edge of the weed beds. Best Lures are still Orange Blobs and Dancers on Intermediate line

Having just returned from holiday, I was pleased to see the Loch in such good heart. We still have a fair bit of weed, but this is keeping the water clear. There is plenty of fishing water including areas of the shallower top end [East end]. Tactics have been the usual for this time of year. Washing lines using Diawl Bachs and pulled Lures – Orange Blobs being favourites. A lot of fish are now fry bashing and Anglers are having success with Minkies.
Last week East Kilbride AC had 42 fish for 120lbs. This included ten fish in the six to ten pound range; George Pelini and partner had a good bag of 12 fish for 34lbs and Thack AC managed 60 fish for 138lbs. Many larger fish now being taken, the best around 12lbs. These are mostly grown on and very fit – you should fish no less that 8lb leaders

Up to this point in the season, the fish per rod average is 2.5 fish per rod; this figure does not include released fish of which there are many. A realistic figure would be nearer four fish rather than 2.5.
This week so far there has been a couple of Specimen Browns.
One of 4lbs and another around 3.5lbs. Both were taken on Diawl Bachs; and Mr Norman Copeman, Falkirk had 11lb Rainbow.
