The weed is now affecting some areas of the loch, but is not as yet affecting the catches.   It would be best however to ask the boatman’s advice on where to fish.   The large deeper area  (40-50acres) in Town bay end is best bet;   Buzzers olive/black; Diawl Bachs and Hare Lugs are still doing well; also the Damsel Nymph.   Anglers may have noticed the stock fish a a wee bit smaller at the moment.   This is down to the hard winter as fish will not feed in freezing conditions.   Our supplier, however, always manages to mix in a few large fish and some blues into our weekly stocking.   We still have a good head of grown on fish from last year in the loch.

On Friday, Falkirk Fishing Club, with 5 Boats, had 60 fish for 115lbs, and Mr Scotland and Mr McIlroy both had limit bags;   On Saturday Priory AC, Glasgow had 45 fish for 104lbs and Pentcaitland AC had 32 fish for 68lbs.    On Sunday, CSSA, with 4 boats, had 34 fish for 64lbs and Stewarton AC had 30 fish for 59lbs;    Ian Dobbie had his 6 fish limit for 16lbs and John O’Hara had 5 fish for 16lbs which included a 6 pounder.
