Just back from holiday and I am delighted to see that the water has at last cleared after the winter silt. This showed up in Friday’s catches and the fact that it was a dull day also helped most anglers were fishing either blobs or buzzers with most fish being taken on the buzzer.
Gavin Dunn and George Black returned 18 fish mostly on brown buzzers. Georgie Black reported fish in the 4lbs – 5lbs range. Andy Lumsden kept three fish for 10lbs. Robin Smith and Bill Simpson returned 11 fish all on buzzers. Nigel Muckle fishing crunchers in fairly deep water returned 20 fish to his own rod. Local man Lindsay Neary and his boat partner were pleased with their days sport returning 15 fish all on buzzers on the edge of the hole. Another angler named only in the book as Tam had a nice limit of four for 12lbs.
On Saturday most boats did well. Regular angler George Pelive returned 20 fish to his own rod. George was fishing black buzzers. IBM AC with four boats kept 25 fish for 86lbs and released a further 26. Buzzers and d/bachs were best flies.
Town Hill AC from Dunfermline with 17 boats kept 45 fish for 124lbs plus 35 returned. Jock Cowan returned seven on catch and release fishing buzzers under a bung. Gulls Nest AC with three boats kept 21 fish for 60lbs and returned 14 on catch release.
The majority of fish being caught are over 3lbs in weight and takes are pretty fierce. We recommend that anglers use nothing less than 8lbs leader material.
There are two boats left for day sessions for Saturday and four boats for Sunday if you are quick enough. Either phone the loch directly at 01506 671753 or e-mail linlithgowlochlodge@hotmail.com
