Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 02/06/19

Updated: Jun 3, 2019

Last week we saw pretty good angling conditions - cloudy – rainy and some days a bit windy. This kept some anglers off but for the most part catches were quite good. Best flies are still buzzers – cormorants and daiwl bachs on sink tip or floating lines but some guys on kill tickets are fishing the booby to good effect. We are now in June and as this month progresses a lot of fish will move into the ‘hole’. It takes a bit of imagination to fish a team of buzzers forty to fifty feet down but that’s what our regular rods will be doing. Anglers have reported a bit of weed growth in the shallow water of the East Bay and also in the Calflea area in the West End but the rest of the loch is fine and clarity is still very good.

Last weekend Wellington AC returned 46 fish mostly on buzzers and cormorants. Two chaps from Cormorants AC kept five fish for 15lb plus one returned. Rosyth AC kept 18 for 49lb on buzzers or boobies and Ian Dobbie returned 14 fish on buzzers.

Pentcaitland AC kept 12 for 29lb on buzzers on midge tip lines and Priory AC kept 19 for 54lb on cat boobies and buzzers. On the same day Mr Cowan returned seven on catch and release.

Early in the week Edinburgh PO returned 24 fish and Glasgow University Staff AC kept nine for 27lb plus three on catch and release. Local expert Charlie Grosvenor returned 12 on buzzers. Ian Dobbie was out again and returned 15 on brown buzzers and Mr Kelly returned six on pheasant tail nymphs.

We continue to stock weekly with our usual high-quality fish in the two to three pound range. With the plentiful feeding in the loch they are not long in bulking up into specimen trout.

We are now offering four hour sessions at £15 for catch and release and £20 for a two fish kill ticket. Weekend boats are also available.

To book either phone the loch directly at 01506 671753 or book on our Bookings page to ensure you are not disappointed.
