We have had another week of mediocre weather. Cold East winds don’t really bother the fish too much but they certainly bother the anglers as the loch had another quiet week. However some of the anglers who did go out didn’t do too badly. Cormorants and blobs on intermediate lines seem to be taking most of the fish but buzzers on floating lines are also starting to be effective.
On Sunday, 31st Falkirk Municipal AC had 22 fish for 55lbs but the Railway Inn had a poor day only recording seven for 18lbs. On the same day Jim Russel returned seven on catch and release including a superb brownie of around 8lb. All of these on a pearly cormorant. Jim was fishing in the Hatchery Bay area.
On the bank Alastair Golding returned six on catch and release as did Mr Yearsly.
George Murphy returned three. Early in the week Mr Hay kept three fish for 8lbs and Gavin Dunn had a six pounder on a biscuit blob.
On Friday, Ken Wood and partner kept their eight fish limit for 22lbs plus a further four on catch and release including a fine rainbow of around 6lb – all on buzzers.
Andrew Lumsden kept a brace for 5lb and Gavin Dunn returned three.
On Saturday, Thack AC mostly on catch and release returned 26 fish on cormorants and various lures – black and green and cats whiskers. Last Cast AC kept 18 fish for 44lbs and returned four on catch and release using yellow dancers and black and green lures. Norhet Fly Fishers kept six fish for 17lbs and returned four again on yellow dancers and black and green lures.
We continue to stock weekly.
We are now offering four hour sessions at £15 for catch and release and £20 for a two fish kill ticket.
