Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 12/06/2021 - 19/06/2021

On Saturday, 12th the Gulls Nest Club returned 29 fish mostly on cormorants and okay dokeys on intermediate lines. Evening anglers Fred Padded and Jim Frew returned and four and six respectively.

On Sunday we hosted the Scottish Youth Fly Fishing Team. They had to fish under international rules which means limited length flies and no anchoring. It was a pleasure to watch these young men handle these rules and very tricky weather conditions with skill that seasoned competition anglers would have been proud of. In my opinion, the future for Scotland as an international fly-fishing competitor is in good hands. The guys returned 32 fish mostly on diawl bachs and cormorants on midge tip lines.

Due to high winds no boats on Monday, the loch was also closed on Tuesday for the Riding of the Marches which of course didn’t take place this year due to Covid 19 but the decision had to be made early in the year due to advance bookings.

On Wednesday we had the Linlithgow AC out for their annual day after the Marches fixture and they managed a quite respectable 16 fish for 45lbs mostly on diawl bachs and buzzers. On the same day Alistair Fyvie kept two for 6lb and returned five. Best fly was a small ace of spades. George Mackintosh kept two fish for 7lb on diawl bach. Ron Thompson kept two for 6lb and returned a further 11 all on a Dawson's olive. Mr Fairley kept two for 5lb and returned three on olive rabbit. Our Treasurer Ricky Wilson went out for a wee cast and kept a nice three pounder. In the evening Mr Innes had three fish for 8lb on a black Pennel.

Regular Friday angler Nigel Muckle returned 11 on tequila blobs and Robin Smith had five on diawl bachs. Gavin Dunn had three on a blur diawl bachs.

Some weed is starting to show in the margins but there is plenty of fishing water.

We continue to stock weekly and all parts of the loch are fishable.

Boats are available for most days for full day or 4-hour sessions but to avoid disappointment please call 01506 671753 or book online in advance. Evening sessions have now commenced and anglers can fish from 4:30 pm until dusk.
