Linlithgow Loch Catch report - 13/10/19

Updated: Oct 21, 2019

Last week's wild weather kept all but a few hardy anglers off the loch. The guys and one lady who did go out mostly had a fish or two.

On Sunday, 6th regular angler Jim Russel who had the loch to himself on what can only be described as a very plain day was very happy with his days sport. Jim returned 12 fish averaging 3½lb with a couple in the 4lb – 5lb range.

On Monday, Geordie Black kept four fish for 11lb. Mr Ross returned four on a yellow dancer and Mr Graham returned nine. Mr Graham was fishing mini snakes.

Regular bank angler Mr Donnelly was very happy with his three fish limit bag of one at 6¼lb – one at 4lb and one at 3lb.

I don’t know if he took up his catch and release or not but certainly had a fine brace and a half of trout. This bears out what I’ve been stressing for ages if you want quality fish work out the margins – not enough people fish the bank nowadays.

On Friday, Gavin Dunn and partner kept four fish for 16lb using Gavin’s organza cormorant on a midge tip line. On the same day Mr Wilkinson returned four and Mr Gibson and Partner returned nine.

Mr Donnelly was on the bank again on Saturday and kept three fish for 9lbs on buzzers and PTNs. Mr Docherty’s seven fish on catch and release including one around 6lbs and another between 4lb – 5lb using minkies.

He also had a fish on taking him down to the end of his reel's backing and snapping off.

Clarity and weed conditions are very good and bodes well for what is left of the season.

We continue to stock regularly.

Anglers please note that the evening sessions are now finished for this season but will resume in May next year.

We are now offering four hour sessions at £15 for catch and release and £20 for a two fish kill ticket.
