Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 24/04/2021 - 30/04/2021

Once more we have had a week of very mixed weather from bright sunshine to bitter North Easterly winds and even on two occasions brief hail showers. What we really need is a couple of days of good steady rain to get the loch level up a bit. However, all in all, we are fishing quite well. The fish are lying fairly high in the water and favourite lines are floater and midge tip with more than a few anglers using the washing line technique. Best flies are buzzers and diawl bachs.

On Saturday, 24th Waders AC kept five fish for 18lbs on cormorants. IBM Freshwater AC kept 23 for 61lb plus two returned. Best fish was 6lb 6oz on buzzers. Mr Bennet returned eight on diawl bachs and midge tip. Ian Dobbie had 11 on buzzers. Mr Donnolly had a fine two fish limit for 10lb on a viva, also, Stephen Walker and partner returned 18 using ghost tips and buzzers.

On Sunday, Mr Russel kept three fish for 12lb plus two returned on buzzers. Mr Bryant returned four on cat's whiskers, two of his fish were around 5lbs. West Lothian Fly Dressers kept 19 for 62lbs mostly on boobies. Best fish 6lb. Cupar AC kept five for 14lb plus eight returned using buzzers and midge tip. Marty Nelson returned eight fishing diawl bachs with a floating line and Ian Dobbie and Andy McAdam returned nine and 12 respectively using buzzers and midge tip.

Monday and Tuesday were very quiet due to blustery and cold North East winds very few fish caught.

On Wednesday we had the East of Scotland Police out on the loch and despite very difficult conditions they managed to arrest 21 fish for 78lb and released a further 19.

On Thursday only one angler Ian McLaren went out. He caught a pristine 4lb rainbow on a buzzer.

The Friday anglers didn’t do so well last week. Nigel Muckle could only manage three fish on lures. Mr Richie kept three fish for 9lb on cormorants. Jim Russel returned six on diawl bachs and Gavin Dunn kept two for 6lb on damsel. Keith Anderson returned three on a nameless nymph of his own tying.

We continue to stock weekly and all areas of the loch are fishable.
