This week’s report start on what was an unusually quiet Saturday (18th). Thack AC went out in five boats and landed right among feeding fish as they had a remarkable day’s sport. Ten rods caught and released 150 fish mostly on buzzers and blobs. A lot of these fish were in the 4lb – 6lb range.
On Sunday Falkirk Municipal AC kept 30 fish for 82lbs plus 20 on catch and release. Some of those were caught on a slow intermediate line using red and black cormorants. On the same day Freddie Padden returned nine on catch and release and Garry Heseltine returned eight on brown buzzers.
On Monday loch stalwart Jock Cowan kept two fish for 5lb and returned nine. Jock was fishing buzzers under a bung but said the fish didn’t want the flies completely static so he tweaked the cast a bit using a slow figure of eight. On the same day Mr Johnston returned 13 and Trevor Gibson 19 on buzzers.
On Tuesday Davy Paterson from Grangemouth returned 21 on buzzers and Mr McFarlane 14 also on buzzers. Keith Anderson and partner kept their eight fish limit for 22lbs and returned six all on buzzers.
On Wednesday Mr Stewart returned 13 on black and silver buzzers and Ken Wood 20 on cormorants. Ian Dobbie returned 24 on buzzers behind a fab. Edinburgh Mechanical AC out in the evening session kept 10 fish and returned five.
On Friday, Falkirk FC kept 10 for 27lb and Ian Dobbie was out again and returned 25 again on buzzers and diawl bachs.
You will see from this that the loch is fishing very well and there is no shortage of fish. Best flies are still buzzers, diawl bachs and cormorants with floating and midge tip lines. As yet we don’t seem to have any weed problems and the water clarity is very good.
We continue to stock weekly.
We are now offering four hour sessions at £15 for catch and release and £20 for a two fish kill ticket. Weekend boats are also available.
