Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 27/06/2022 – 03/07/2022

There were 41 boats out in the past week with 63 rods, 89 fish were kept, weighing 245 lbs, and 175 fish were returned.


It’s been quiet again this week with the schools now finished for the summer and families going on holiday.


Anglers out during the week 27th – 3rd July had great results with the fish coming to dry flies.


The best catches for the week came to Tam Easton with Gavin Dunn returning 21 fish all caught on dry flies, Mr Lawson kept 3 fish weighing 8 lbs and returned 3, again using dry flies. Brian Brogan and his partner returned 6 trout into the loch. On Friday, Nigel Muckle and his partner returned 16 fish using fabs and diawl bachs, Ken Wood kept 4 fish for 10 lbs and Gavin Dunn with George Mackintosh returned 6 trout (two weighing 5 lbs and one weighing 4 lbs) – see photo,



all succumbing to dries and suspended buzzers using floating lines just of weed beds. Friday evening saw John Innes keeping 4 fish weighing 12 lbs 8 oz and returning 2.


On Saturday Wellington AC had 2 anglers keeping 4 trout for 13 lbs while their 6 colleagues returned 19 fish. Ian Dobbie out with George Peline returned 16 fish caught on dry flies – see photo,



while Paul Thomson using CDC patterns and sitting in the weeds casting just beyond them returned 19 rainbows.


Ferry Fly Fishers out on Sunday kept 25 fish weighing 70 lbs 4 oz including specimens at 4, 4½ and 5 lbs. Ian Dobbie with Jimmy Russell returned 17 fish, Freddie Paddon and his partner returned 6 rainbows.
