Overall weekly summary 27/04/2026–03/05/2026

Total rods out: 132. Total fish caught: 372 (138 kept, 234 released). Total weight of kept fish: 370¼ lbs.

Weather conditions: Cloud, rain, and bright sunshine.

Best tactics: Using Floating and Midge-Tip lines.Flies used:The most effective flies for the week included: Buzzers, Dries, Muskins, Crunchers, Fabs and various nymphs. Buzzers, Muskins and small Dries were the most successful.

Angler’s best catches:

Monday to Friday

Alan Wells and partner returned 12 trout; Stuart Sneddon released 6 fish. Mr McAllister out with three friends kept 3 fish for 9 lbs and returned 20; Stuart Sneddon out again released 4 fish. Kelvinside Academy AC’s eight anglers kept 27 fish weighing 72¼ lbs; Nigel Muckle and partner returned 20 trout; Mark Lawton with Freddie Paddon released 14 trout. George Pelini fishing solo returned 5 fish while Ron Thompson released 3. Robin Smith with George Mackintosh kept 4 fish for 12 lbs 14 oz and returned 5 – see photo;

Ian Dobbie released 10 Rainbows; Mr Stewart returned 4 fish; Mike Connet and Jock Kettles lost count but reckoned they had about 45 – 50 trout released using floating lines with Muskins and Nymphs on a short line while slowly drifting; Ian McLaren kept 2 fish for 5¾ lbs and returned 4; Jim Millar using Klinks.

Saturday

Bank of Scotland West out with twelve anglers kept 6 fish for

14½ lbs and returned 5; Last Cast AC out with three boats released 29 trout; Dunfermline Railway AC’s five anglers kept 10 fish weighing 25¼ lbs, they also returned 2; Townhill AC’s eleven anglers kept 37 fish weighing 100¼ lbs, heaviest fish was 6 .4 lbs;

Sunday;

Bitter cold east wind returned putting the fish off.

Rosyth AC with five boats kept 12 fish for 21¼ lbs; Balbeggie AC out with 13 anglers kept 16 fish weighing 39¼ lbs; Mr Cooper and partner returned 5 trout; Jimmy and son James Russell returned 3, one being 6-7 lbs – see photo.
