Total rods out: 20. Total fish caught, 39 (27 kept, 12 released). Total weight of kept fish:
80 lbs 10 oz.
Weather conditions: Very warm days with a northeast wind.
Best tactics: Using Midge Tip, Intermediate, Sink Tip and Di3 lines. It was a hard week for anglers with the water being warmer than normal. Some anglers that were out on the Loch were hooking fish but not getting them into the net.
Flies used:
The most effective flies for the week included: Black lures (Cormorants, black Mambas etc) and various small nymphs.
Best catches:
Monday to Friday
Marty Nelson landed 2 fish for 6 lbs; Ali Fyvie kept 1 trout weighing 3 lbs; George Mackintosh kept 1 fish for 3 lbs; Robin Smith with George Mackintosh kept 2 trout weighing 6½ lbs; Gavin Dunn out with Jimmy Russell returned 4 fish, two at 5 lbs. – see photos.
Nigel Muckle released 6 Rainbow trout.
Saturday
Alec McAlpine with nine colleagues having a memorable day for his father kept 8 fish weighing 24½ lbs. Unfortunately, some anglers didn’t have the right setup and struggled to net fish.
Sunday:
Gavin Dunn and Jimmy Russell out again managed to keep 2 trout for 7 lbs 10 oz.
