Overall weekly summary - Linlithgow Loch catch report (06/04/2026–12/04/2026)
Total rods out: 56. Total fish caught: 341 (80 kept, 261 released). Total weight of kept fish: 217¾ lbs.
Weather conditions: Mixed with gusts, rain and bright sunshine, especially Sunday when no one was out due to the strong gusts of wind.
Best tactics: Using Floating, Midge-Tip and Di3 lines.
Flies used:
The most effective flies for the week included: Blobs, Buzzers, Diawl Bachs, Dries, Cormorants, Muskins, Crunchers and various nymphs. Buzzers and Muskins were the most successful.
Angler catches:
Monday to Friday
Gordon Thirstane and partner kept 8 fish weighing 23 lbs and released 4. Jimmy and James Russell returned 7 trout. Ian Dobbie returned 14 fish. West Lothian Fly Dressers out with 5 boats kept 14 fish for 29 lbs and released 19. Stuart Sneddon returned 8 trout. George Pellini released 10 fish. Craig Cowan returned 9 Rainbows. Kenneth Andrews and partner had a good day returning 20 trout into the Loch. Mr Colin with his boat partner released 25 fish. Nigel Muckle returned 21 fish. Euan and his wife Jaq released 14 trout “we had a brilliant day on Wednesday past again on the Loch this time we only managed 14 and it was honours even, another brilliant day and we probably missed over 20 fish will right up top again which was brilliant to see”, Euan. - see photos

. Ian Dobbie out again managed to release 12 fish.
Saturday
Rosyth CSSC’s six anglers kept 9 fish for 25¾ lbs and released 1, quite a few fish didn’t make into the nets. Gartosh AC out with fifteen anglers kept 31 fish weighing 84¾ lbs (single angler managed to net 13 trout).
Sunday
No one out due to the strong gusts.
