Linlithgow Loch Catch Report – 03/06/2024 – 09/06/2024

Updated: 5 days ago

There were 32 boats out over the week, 30 fish were kept, weighing 96 lbs, and 24 were returned. Water clarity is still excellent, however, the bright sunshine and changing gusts have affected the catch rate. The best tactics were: Floating, Midge-Tip with Fast Glass, Di3/5 and Intermediate lines for fishing deeper. Flies doing the taking were Buzzers, Candy Boobies, Diawl Bachs, Muskins, orange Blobs, Fabs, and Cats, also, successful were mini-Lures and Snakes.

The best catches Monday-Friday were by;

On Monday Freddie Padden managed to net and release 1 Rainbow.

Ali Fyvie with George Mackintosh out on Tuesday returned 2 fish.

On Wednesday, Elem Fishing Club with 7 boats kept 7 trout weighing in at 19½ Lbs. Marty Nelson released 3 Rainbows.

Thursday saw Ian Dobbie out solo releasing 4 fish into the Loch.

On Friday, Andy Lumsden kept 2 fish for 2 Lbs 5 oz.

On Saturday, the conditions weren’t the best for anglers, Earlston AC managed to keep 2 fish for 6 Lbs 11 oz.

Sunday saw an improvement in the weather, Ferry Fly Fishers with 4 boats kept 8 trout weighing 29 Lbs while Aberdour Angling Club’s 10 anglers kept 9 fish for 29¼ Lbs. Ian Dobbie returned 6 fish as did Jimmy Russell and Ali Fyvie, Gavin Dunn returned 3 Rainbows.

Many fish were dropped by anglers that day and a good number of fish kept were over 4 Lbs.
