Only 13 brave anglers ventured out to face the strong gusts and rain this week. Despite the challenging conditions, one fish weighing 2½ lbs was kept, while 14 fish were returned to the water. The best lines to use included Floating, Midge-Tip, Sink-Tip, and Intermediate lines. Anglers found success with blobs, diawl bachs, cormorants, damsels, snakes, and black/green lures.
Weekly Highlights
Monday to Friday
George Mackintosh and Ali Fyvie had a successful three-hour fishing session, managing to keep one fish weighing 2½ lbs. Unfortunately, the following days saw strong winds, with gusts exceeding 50 mph, preventing anglers from fishing.
Saturday
Once again, the winds thwarted plans for anglers hoping to go out in boats. The morning waves were quite rough, resembling white horses racing across the water.
Sunday
Sunday brought a bit of relief. Jimmy Russell and his son James returned with five trout between them. Lee Graham and Ian Scott made the journey from Durham that morning and returned home the same evening. They released four fish and noted that they had lost just as many while bringing them to the net. They praised the high quality of the Rainbows. Mr. Cairney returned two trout, and Mark Lawton successfully released three Rainbows.
Fishing Conditions
Fishing conditions this week were challenging due to the weather. High winds and rain made it difficult for many anglers. However, those who braved the elements found that the fish were still biting. It's important to stay updated on weather conditions before heading out.
Tips for Anglers
Check the Weather: Always check the forecast before you go. Conditions can change rapidly.
Use the Right Gear: Make sure to use the recommended lines and lures for the best chance of success.
Be Patient: Fishing can be unpredictable. Sometimes, it takes time to catch the right fish.
