Overall weekly summary Linlithgow Loch catch report 04/05/2026–09/05/2026


Total rods out: 40. Total fish caught: 168 (8 kept, 160 released). Total weight of kept fish: 28 lbs 130z.

Weather conditions: Cloud, bright sunshine. And a very cold east wind for most of the week which made catching hard.

Best tactics: Using Floating lines.

Flies used: The most effective flies for the week included: Buzzers, Dries, Muskins, Fabs and various nymphs. Buzzers, Muskins and small Dries again were the most successful.

Angler’s best catches:

Monday to Friday

Stewart Sneddon released 6 fish; Steve Burke returned 5 trout; Mr Eadie returned 6 Rainbows; Jimmy Russell with son James released 11 fish; Ian Dobbie returned 12 fish; Mark Lawton released 5 trout. Euan and wife Jaq returned 21 fish – see photos


“Hi Tom, just a quick message to let you know what a great day we had on Thursday past. Took us to lunchtime to find the fish but managed to anchor in Peel Bay and had constant action for four hours Fishing buzzers on a washing Line proved to be the best tactic with wrenching takes. We managed 21 to the Boat with me just pipping Jaq 11/10 and about the same lost or missed”

Charlie McGrath and partner released 14 trout; Mr Malcolmson returned 12 fish; Mr Robertson and partner released 14 trout; Mike Padget released 12 fish.


Saturday: Bitter cold east wind returned putting the fish off.

Norhet Fly Fishing Club out with 6 boats managed 6 fish returned; Kenny Bennet and his six mates kept 2 fish for 9 lbs 11 oz – see Kenny’s photo with his 7 lbs catch,

they also managed to release 1 fish.

Mr Szary and partner returned 7 trout; Mr Stewart released 3 fish.


Sunday; Again, bitter cold east wind putting the fish off.

We held our annual May competition with twenty-three anglers going out, seven anglers who paid failed to turn up?

1st Prize £100.00 + Plus Trophy – won by Colin Sharp

2nd Prize £75.00 – won by Kenny Hunter

3rd Prize £50.00 – won by Matt Neilson

Heaviest Fish £25.00 – won by Dean Torr
