There were 41 boats out over the week, 53 fish were kept, weighing 144 lbs, and 62 fish were returned. With the water clarity being excellent, Floating, Midge-Tip and Intermediate lines were the most successful. Flies doing the taking were Buzzers, Candy Boobies, Diawl Bachs, Muskins, Blobs, Fabs, and Cats, also, successful were mini-Lures.
The best catches Monday-Friday were by;
On Monday Sandy Dunsmore kept 1 fish for 2 Lbs 14 oz.
Mr Turnbull and partner on Tuesday returned 7 fish. George Mackintosh kept 2 trout weighing 2 Lbs 5 oz.
On Wednesday Mr Stonely with his boat partner kept 4 Rainbows weighing 12 Lbs, Mr Sutton and partner kept 3 fish for 10½ Lbs and Ken wood with his partner kept 2 for 4¾ Lbs, returning 4 into the Loch. Gavin Dunn fishing solo returned 3 trout.
Thursday saw Mr McCotter fishing solo returning 4 fish while Stewart Kelly managed to return 2 fish. Ron Thompson had a good day keeping 2 fish weighing 6 Lbs 5 oz and returning 3.
Friday saw Jimmy Russell and Ian Dobbie founding it hard going only managing to net and return 3 trout thanks to Jimmy. Andy Lumsden and his boat partner kept 2 fish for 5 Lbs. Freddie Padden returned 6 trout, while, Balbeggie AC out in the evening kept 16 Rainbows weighing in at 38Lbs, returning 11 fish. Fishing solo, Freddie Padden returned 5 Rainbows.
On Saturday, the bright sunshine made it really hard with Linlithgow AC keeping 12 fish weighing in at 29 ½ Lbs, while Jimmy Russell out with George Bell managed to return 14 trout and James Russell out on his own returned 4 fish- see photo.
On Sunday the Linlithgow Loch Spring Competition went really well and the weather stayed kind to the anglers. It was overcast at times but mostly sunny and very warm all day until 4pm when the rain started despite the threat of thunderstorms coming our way.
The competition was won by Jimmy Russell with 5 fish to the net.
1st Place: Jimmy Russell, 2 fish in the bag for 6lb 5oz and released 3
2nd Place: Mark Lawton, 2 fish in the bag for 5lb 14oz and released 3
3rd Place: Matt Neilson, 2 fish in the bag for 5lb 15oz and released 2
The heaviest fish was caught by Les Grant for 3lb 13oz
Just missing out for 3rd place was Geordie McIntosh with 2 fish for 5lb 13oz and releasing 2.
There were 22 fish caught for a grand total of 60lb 9oz and 12 released.
