Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 10/04/2023 – 16/04/2023

The best catches went to anglers using F/lines, M/tips and F/glass lines. Flies taking the most fish were Blobs, Buzzers, black/green Lures, Cats, Cormorants, Damsels, Muskins and Snake patterns. The Loch water is crystal clear at present which reflects the catches.


There were 63 boats out over those days with 117 rods, 168 fish were kept, weighing 490½ lbs, and 336 fish were returned.


On Monday best catches went to Scott Davidson who returned 4 fish, Donald McKenzie kept 2 weighing 4½ lbs and returned, Mr Shaw and partner returned 7 fish.


Tuesday saw Ali Fyvie and George Mackintosh return 8 trout, Mr Miller and partner kept 4 fish for 12½ lbs and returned 2, Mr McLaren kept 4 rainbows weighing 13 lbs


On Wednesday, Kenneth Andrew and 3 chums Kept 4 fish for 15 lbs and returned 10 (all caught on Buzzers), Ali Fyvie missed a few fish that day.


A busy Friday was a good day for most anglers, Nigel Muckle and his boat partner returned 20 fish mostly on Buzzers and some on Lures, Robin Smith out on his own returned 7, Alex Lees and partner returned 5 fish plus a Pike, Mr Stewart and his partner returned 8, George Pelini returned 10 including a Brownie about 5+ lbs - see photo



Ian McDougall out with John McLean kept 2 for 8 lbs and returned 5 fish. Ian Dobbie returned 22 fish including a Brownie around 6 lbs, while Gavin Dunn returned 9 fish. The North Berwick angling club with 5 anglers kept 12 fish weighing 44 lbs, returned 15 trout and 2 Pike. Most of the fish that day took Buzzers.


Saturday saw Rosyth Civil Service out with 10 boats keeping 47 fish for 126 lbs and returning 14, Eyewater angling club’s 8 anglers kept 27 trout for 74 lbs and returned 24, Robin Scott had a good to himself keeping 4 rainbows for 10 lbs 12 oz and returning 6 using a fast glass and Damsels, Mr Greene and partner kept 8 for 25lbs and returned 14, again on Damsels, Mr Sneddon out himself for 4 hrs returned 12 fish and Ian Dobbie out again returned 16 fish using a floating line with Buzzers and Muskins. Bank anglers Alistair Golding and Murphy returned 9 and 4 fish respectively.


Fishing on Sunday, St Mungo AC with 5 boats kept 7 fish for 18 lbs 14 oz and returned 6, Ferry Fly Fishers 7 anglers kept 20 trout weighing 60 lbs, Ferranti AC had 13 fish for 37½ lbs, returning 11. Ali Fyvie and Trevor Gibson kept 4 for 12 lbs and returned 12 fish, Mr Wallace kept his 4 fish for 15 lbs, Scott Hamel with 3 pals kept 8 fish weighing 24 lbs, Ian Dobbie with Jimmy Russell returned 21 fish. Craig Cowan out on his own “had the best day in a long while” returned 37 rainbows, 3 about 4 – 5lbs. Craig was using a floating line with Buzzers and Fabs. Freddie Paddon fishing from the north bank returned 7 trout plus 3 Pike.
