Overall weekly summary: Linlithgow Loch catch report (13/04/2026–19/04/2026)

Total rods out: 53. Total fish caught: 300 (87 kept, 213 released). Total weight of kept fish: 245¾ lbs.

Weather conditions: Gusts, cloudy, rainy, and bright sunshine. 

Best tactics: Using Floating, Midge-Tip and Di3 lines. 

Flies used:

The most effective flies for the week included: Blobs, Buzzers, Diawl Bachs, Dries, Cormorants, Muskins, Crunchers, Fabs and various nymphs. Again, Buzzers and Muskins were the most successful.


Angler catches:

Monday to Friday

Lenny Reid went out solo and returned 3 trout after missing a few. George Mackintosh, out with Freddie Paddon, kept one fish for 2½ lbs and released 9 fish; Ian McNicoll and partner also released 9 fish. Mr Sinclair and partner kept 2 fish weighing 5¼ lbs; they also returned 6. Marty Nelson, fishing solo, released 9 trout, and Tam Easton returned 10 fish. Colin Stonely and partner kept 4 fish weighing 12 lbs and released 14, David Mackay and son kept 6 fish weighing 18 lbs. Mr Purvis, with Mike Fisher, returned 40 fish using floating lines and dries “Fine day at Linlithgow Loch Fishery (FAFA) 12 to the net, dropped 4 and hit a shit load, star of the show was an 11 pounder that took a Cormie, and legged it, most fish came to the floater and fast glass, cormies red apps and a straggle damsel!! Class sport” - see photos


Michael Padget released 20 trout; Mark Lawton with Freddie Paddon returned 15 fish; Robin Lambert kept 2 for 5 lbs and released 3.


Saturday 

Ferranti AC’s 10 anglers with eight on C&R kept 6 trout weighing 16 lbs and returned 14. IBM Freshwater AC out with 4 boats kept 8 trout weighing 26¾ lbs, releasing 4. Cupar AC’s four anglers kept 13 fish weighing 32¼ lbs. 


Sunday 

Railway Inn AC with 4 boats kept 1 fish for 3 lbs and returned 15, Perth Civil Service Club’s eleven anglers kept 26 fish weighing 74 lbs 3 oz, releasing 13. Edinburg Trout AC out with nine anglers kept 12 trout for 34 lbs and returned 6.


The heaviest trout were caught by Sandy Sturton (7 lbs 10 oz) and Brian Brown (6 lbs 5 oz) - see photos.

Linlithgow Loch is restocked regularly, with updates posted on the fishery's Facebook page.
