Linlithgow Loch Catch Report – 17/03/2054 –23/03/2025

Wow, what a week there were 35 boats out with 54 anglers, 50 fish were kept weighing 167 lbs, and 109 fish were returned. Midge-tip, sink-tip and intermediate lines used with blobs, cormorants, black/green lures, Humungus and snakes (esp. pink) were the successful setups.


Linlithgow Loch Fishery, Catch Report: The best catches on the weekdays were by;


Tuesday: Ali Fyvie with George Mackintosh, who kept 4 fish weighing 13 lbs and returned 11 Rainbows. Ricky Wilson kept 2 for 5½ lb and returned 4 fish.

Wednesday: Robin Smith and George Mackintosh returned 24 trout to the Loch; “biggest one must have been 6 to 7lbs with a full tail” – see George’s photo;

Les Mitchell returned 9 fish while Freddie Padden returned 3.

Thursday: Ian McLaren out with George Mackintosh kept 4 trout for 11½ lbs, they returned 10. Single anglers’ Mr Taylor returned 6 fish, Mr Innes kept 4 weighing 13 lbs plus returned 14 fish, and Marty Nelson put back 14 Rainbows.

Friday: Nigel Muckle and partner returned 7 fish, Robin Smith with George Mackintosh returned 9. Brothers John and Robin Lambert kept 4 fish weighing 14 ¼ lbs, see photo of John’s 6 lb 2 oz Rainbow,

Robin returned one while brother Tom out for 4 hours returned 4 fish. Gavin Dunn with Jimmy Russell put back 17 fish. Also out again was Freddie Padden returning 14 trout.


Saturday produced some excellent catches: Waders AC with four anglers kept 11 trout weighing 34 lbs, and the heaviest caught by Douglas Gribble weighed in at 5 lbs 2 oz – see photo,

They also returned 2 fish. Robert Anthony out with his young son kept 8 fish weighing in at 30¼ lbs they also returned 12 fish – see the photo of the 3 Rainbows over 6 lbs each caught by them.

Mr Leonard and his boat partner kept 4 trout for 12½ lbs, they also returned 3 fish. Alan McGregor and his friend returned 6 trout, Paul McNair and Stuart Strachan returned 56 fish while Steven Borwick and a friend put back 7 trout into the Loch.


The best catches on Sunday were by Ali Fyvie out with Jimmy Russell returned 22 trout, Robert Salmond out with Graham Thurstain caught 3 for 15 lbs 6 oz; the heaviest caught by Robert was 6 lbs 3oz – see photo,

They kept 7 trout weighing 27¾ lbs in total. Craig Cowan out alone returned 16 fish, Mark Lawton with Freddie Padden kept 1 for 2¼ lbs and put back 9.
