Linlithgow Loch Catch Report – 19/05/2025 –25/05/2025

Over the week, 39 boats and 65 anglers were out; 43 fish weighing 132¾ lbs were kept, and 35 fish were returned, the weekend weather change made catches harder. The successful set-ups used floating, midge-tip and Di7 lines with orange blobs/fabs, buzzers, Diawl Bachs, black Mamba’s, black & green lures, dries including daddies, half hogs and nemos.


The best catches for the week with the right tactics were by.


Monday to Friday:

George Mackintosh netted a trout weighing 5½ lbs – see photo.

Andy Lumsden kept 3 fish weighing 12 lbs. Alan Wells kept 2 trout for 8 lbs and returned 4.


Saturday: IBM Freshwater AC’s 4 anglers kept 8 fish weighing 27½ lbs and released 4, member Derek Keenan contributed 8 to their total all caught on size 14 dries. Ian McNicol released 6 fish using a size 14 sedge pattern and nemos – see the photo of his 6 lb Rainbow,

his son returned 2 fish using dries. Alan McGregor returned 3 fish using a 12’ fast tip line with blobs and hare’s ears.


Sunday: The gusts and change of wind directions made it hard going, Aberdour AC out with 3 boats keeping 8 fish for 21¼ lbs. Dunfermline Artisans 6 anglers managed 5 trout weighing 13 lbs. Jimmy Russell and his son returned 4 fish.
