Overall weekly summary (20/04/2026–26/04/2026)
Total rods out: 107. Total fish caught: 312 (68 kept, 244 released). Total weight of kept fish: 188½ lbs.
Weather conditions: Gusts, cloud, and bright sunshine.
Best tactics: Using Floating and Midge-Tip lines.
Flies used: The most effective flies for the week included: Buzzers, Diawl Bachs, Dries, Muskins, Crunchers and Fabs. Buzzers, Muskins with tequila/sunburst Fabs were the most successful.
Angler catches:
Monday to Friday
Jim Baxter and Marty Nelson fishing solo released 15 and 7 fish respectively. Freddie Paddon out with Mark Lawton returned 17 trout; Mark Smith out for 4 hours released 7 fish. Robin Smith with George Mackintosh returned 8 trout; Nigel Muckle and partner released 27 fish; Jim Baxter out again for the week with his boat partner returned 12 fish; Mr Glasgow out himself released 17 trout.
Saturday
Linlithgow AC’s seven anglers managed to keep 7 fish for 18¾ lbs and returned 1; Waders AC with four boats kept 8 trout weighing 19½ lbs; Bonnybridge AC’s nine anglers returned 33 fish.
Sunday
Kelso AC out in 10 boats released 50 trout – “Strange day for our club today. 10 boats. 5 came in with 5 fish and the other 5 came in with 45!! Buzzers easily the best tactic. A total of 50 hard fighting fish. Best fish was a rainbow of between 5 and 6 lbs - but one rod had a very large brown trout too. Thanks for a great day - shame that we lost the breeze for so long”. Ferry Fly Dressers’ six anglers kept 23 fish weighing 57½ lbs and returned 3, Ferry Fly Dressers’ 4lb 6 0z trout – see photo;

Kelty Artisan AC with three boats kept 12 fish for 33¾ lbs; Jim Mackie and partner kept 4 trout for 9 lbs 6 oz, they also released 6 fish; Ian Dobbie returned 8 trout.
