Total rods out: 38. Total fish caught, 72 (6 kept, 66 released). Total weight of kept fish: 18 lbs 2 oz.
Weather conditions: Mixed week with bright sunshine, cloud, rain and changing wind directions.
Best tactics: Using floating lines.
Flies used:
The most effective flies for the week included: Buzzers, Daiwl Bachs, Dries, including olive and brown CDC’s and foam-backed daddies. Fabs and various nymphs. Buzzers, Dries, and Muskins were the most successful. Many anglers who were out mentioned plenty of fish moving, taking, but being dropped before getting into the net.
Best catches:
Monday to Friday
Heriot AC’s eight anglers released 28 trout; Linlithgow AC, with 2 boats, kept 6 fish for 18 lbs 2 oz. Brian Taylor and partner returned 8 fish; Ally Kale released 3, and George Pelini returned 4 trout.
Saturday
Stuart Strachan released 9 trout before noon when the fish switched off. He managed to net and return another fish around 2:30 pm before coming in.
Sunday:
It was a hard day since the fish did not come on until 3 pm. Gavin Dunn with Jimmy Russell returned 3 fish; Ross Carnegie and partner released 5 trout; Mark Lawton with Freddie Paddon returned 3 fish.
