Overall Linlithgow Loch Fishery catch report (30/03/2026–05/04/2026) weekly summary
Total rods: 37. Total fish caught: 179 (13 kept, 165 released). Total weight of kept fish: 51 lbs.
Weather conditions: Mixed with gusts and rain, especially on Sunday, when we had heavy snow
Best tactics: Using Floating, Midge-Tip and Di3 lines.
Flies used:
The most effective flies and lures for the week included: Blobs, Diawl Bachs, Dries, Cormorants, Muskins, Snakes, UV Crunchers and UV Lures.
Angler catches:
Monday to Friday
Lenny Reid, with his partner, released 7 fish on a dreich Monday. Euan Myles, with his wife Jaq, had a great 4-hour fishing, releasing 25 trout caught mostly on buzzers "They were all top-quality fish and fought like Demons. I managed only eight fish compared to my wife Jaq, who had 17 with the biggest at 7lb !! " – see photos.
Mark Smith and Mark Lawton returned 10 fish, as did Marty Nelson, taken on an orange blob. Ken Wood and his partner kept 4 fish weighing 12 lbs, and Alec Adam with his boat partner kept 4 trout weighing 13 lbs. Charlie McGrath, out alone, returned 23 trout using a midge tip and Di3 line. Craig Cowan, fishing solo, released 17 Rainbows. Graham Hoggan, out with Tam Robinson, released 20 fish; Jimmy Russell and Gavin Dunn returned 10 fish. Simon Kale and his partner returned 20 trout.
Saturday
Gilmerton Fly Fishers with 7 boats kept 39 fish for 88½ lbs and released 12. Falkirk Fly Dressers Kept 3 for 8½ lbs, also returned 12. Last Cast AC released 45 trout. Mark Webb, out for 4 hours, managed to return 4 Rainbows.
Sunday
No one was out due to the snow and strong gusts.
