Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 03/04/2021 - 09/04/2021

Our angling numbers are still being affected by travel restrictions and adverse weather. Last week we lost three whole days because of high icy winds and rain. Although, on Thursday we had no anglers out and the loch was perfectly fishable. The doom and gloom weather presenters of the BBC have a lot to answer for. The anglers who went out mostly did well fishing a variety of flies and lures with buzzers starting to feature in the right conditions.

On Saturday 3rd, Nigel Muckle and partner kept seven fish for 18lbs best fly was a gold head damsel. A group of local fly fishers kept 18 for 56lbs mostly on damsels and blobs. Trevor Gibson and partner kept six for 17lb all on buzzers. Mr Gibbons kept his four fish limit for 12lbs on damsels and Mr Sneddon returned 10 from the bank of black and green lures and intermediate line.

On Sunday, Jim Russel returned eight on yellow dancer and fast glass line. Messrs Wayne and Cram kept eight for 26lbs and returned six and Andy McAdam fishing snakes in Peel Bay returned 10.

Monday and Tuesday we had no anglers brave or daft enough to go out. Wednesday wasn’t so bad and Mr Johnston returned 13 on black and green lures. Ross Paterson returned three. Loch helpers Gavin Dunn and Jim Russel decided to give the buzzers a swim and returned 22 fish for the boat including a pike -

Alastair Fyvie returned 14 on a silver dancer and tequila blob and Mr Scott returned eight on various lures.

Friday saw some mixed results Falkirk FC with one boat kept four fish for 14lbs on buzzers. Andy Lumsden kept three for 9lb on buzzers. Nigel Muckle returned nine on buzzers. Messrs McDougal and McLean returned three on snakes. We had Mr Russell and Trevor Gibson returning 36 all on buzzers, they also kept four for 14lbs. Ian Dobbie and partner returned 29 fish also on buzzers and Mr Wells kept four for 15lbs and returned a further seven all on buzzers. Mr McIver and Mr Fyvie returned 7 and 5 respectively on blobs and buzzers.

The large head of fish are well spread out and all areas of the loch are fishable. We continue with our regular stocking policy. When the Clubs finally manage to travel, they should do alright at Linlithgow.

Boats are available for most days for full day or 4-hour sessions but to avoid disappointment please call 01506 671753 or book online in in advance.
