Linlithgow Loch Catch Report – 08/04/2024 – 14/04/2024

Despite the wind and rain, there were 33 boats out over the week, 72 fish were kept, weighing 199 lbs 3 oz, and 29 fish were returned.

Water clarity is improving resulting in better catches.

The best catches Monday-Friday were by;

Alan McGregor on Monday used a Di5 with a pink-yellow blob, and a black Diawl Bach to catch and release 6 fish – see photos.



On Wednesday, Kenneth Andrews and his 3 fishing buddies released 4 trout while Ali Fyvie fishing for 4hrs kept 2 weighing 7 Lbs 8 oz.


Friday was a good day for North Berwick AC’s five anglers keeping 16 rainbows for 51 Lbs, successful flies were Diawl Bachs, cormorants, and black-green mini snakes on hover lines. Nigel Muckle and his boat partner released 16 fish caught on cormorants and mini lures. George Mackintosh with Ian McLaren kept 4 for 11 Lbs and returned 6 fish. Out again, Alan McGregor returned 6 rainbows taking blobs and cormorants.


On Saturday, Rosyth Civil Service AC with 19 anglers kept 27 fish weighing in at 72 Lbs 13 oz and returned 2 using floating and intermediate lines with cormorants and red Diawl Bachs taking mostly. Eyewater AC with 5 boats kept 15 fish for 39 Lbs 8 oz, one weight in at 4 Lbs. Ferranti AC’s 5 anglers kept 10 trout for 34 Lbs 8 oz and returned 3, successful lines were intermediates and midge tips with black zonker, blobs, cormorants and viva’s being the best flies.


Sunday saw the Aberdour Angling Association out with 9 anglers keeping 22 fish for 62 Lbs 14 oz with floating and midge-tip lines tied with blobs, cat whiskers, muskins, and nemesis flies doing the business. Ali Fyvie out with Jimmy Russell using midge tip lines with candy blobs and shell back muskins releasing 8 trout back into the Loch.
