Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 24/04/2023 – 30/04/2023

Using F/lines, M/tips, Intermediate and F/glass lines was the tactics used by most anglers. Flies taking the most fish were Fabs, Buzzers, black/green Lures, Cats, Damsels and Muskins. The Loch water is still crystal clear at present.


There were 73 boats out over those days with 134 rods, 64 fish were kept, weighing 193½ lbs, and 293 fish were returned.


Out on Monday, Mr Aitken kept 4 for 14 lbs and returned 2, Mr Thomson kept 4 weighing 10¼ lbs.


Tuesday saw Mr McLaren and partner return 7 fish, Alan McGregor kept 4 fish for 11 lbs, while Mr Taylor returned 4 and Mr graham returned 6 fish.


On Wednesday, Ali Fyvie and George Mackintosh returned 3 fish, Donald McKenzie kept 2 weighing 6 lbs and returned 2 trout.


Out on Thursday, SPRAFF (East) AC with 19 anglers returned 67 fish, Mr Maitland and partner kept 6 for 16¾ lbs, Ian Dobbie out on his own returned 7 trout.


Friday was a good day for most anglers, Taggart Scott’s 4 anglers out all day kept 6 weighing 17 lbs while their other anglers fishing for 4 hrs only didn’t do so well. Robin Smith and George Mackintosh returned 11 fish, Ian Dobbie and partner returned 7, Andy Lumsden kept 2 for 5 lbs, returning 3 to the Loch, Jimmy Russell and Alan Daisly returned 13 fish, Nigel Muckle and partner returned 9. A good day for Mr Symonds, who out on his own, returned 7 fish.


Saturday saw Gartosh AC keeping 19 for 47¾ lbs (one weighing in at 5 lbs and one at 3 ¾ lbs - (see photos).




Bank of Scotland (Glasgow) kept 11 for 22½ lbs, Craig Cowan fishing alone returned 12 trout plus 8 pike about 4-5 lbs that took his trout fly, Stuart Hepburn and partner returned 4 fish within their 4 hrs fishing, Mark Green with his boat partner returned 5 fish.


Best catches on Sunday went to Dunfermline Railway AC’s 6 anglers, keeping 3 fish weighing 7 lbs 10 oz. Aberdour AC with 7 anglers must have been using the right tactics as they kept 19 for 52 lbs 10 oz and returned 13 fish.
