Linlithgow Loch Catch Report - 27/03/2023 – 2/04/2023

Anglers using Di3 Di5 and fast glass lines had the most success, however, those using floating or midge/sink tip lines did well buzzer fishing. Flies taking the most fish were Blobs, Buzzers, black/green Lures, Cats, Cormorants, Dancers, Humungous, Minkies and Snake patterns.


There were 28 boats out over those days with 51 rods, 31 fish were kept, weighing 89 lbs, and 149 fish were returned.


The best catches during the week were by Mr Bremner and his boat partner who returned 9 2 fish on Tuesday, while George Mackintosh and Ali Fyvie return 6 fish. Out on Wednesday Mr Shaw and partner returned 9 fish, out again George Mackintosh and Ali Fyvie return 11 fish including a 9 lb Brownie - see photo.



Mr Skedd fishing from the bank returned 5 rainbows. Making the best of it on Friday George Mackintosh and Ian McLaren kept 4 fish weighing 9 lbs and returned 4 fish, Mr Simpson and partner returned 6 fish within their 4-hr session. Nigel Muckle out on his own returned 8 fish and Ian Dobbie and partner returned 10 caught mostly on buzzers.


Saturday saw Falkirk Fly Dressers out with 8 anglers keeping 2 fish for 6 lbs and returning 24. Graham Christie and partner returned 8 trout plus a double figured pike; Mark Lawton returned 6 fish.


Fishing on Sunday, Pencaitland AC with 6 boats kept 20 fish for 57 lbs and returned 2 Brownies. Jimmy Russell and Trevor Gibson kept 4 fish weighing 12 lbs and returned 10, Ian Dobbie returned 15 fish using a floating line and olive buzzers. Mr McIvor and Mr Murphy fishing from the bank returned 6 & 5 trout respectively.
