There were 67 boats out over the week, 89 fish were kept, weighing 262 lbs, and 165 fish were returned. Water clarity is excellent, as evidenced by the number of netted and dropped fish. The best tactics were: Floating, Midge-Tip, Fast Glass, and Intermediate lines. Flies doing the taking were Buzzers, Candy Boobies, Diawl Bachs, Muskins, black & green Lures, orange Blobs, Fabs, and Cats, also successful were mini-Lures and Snakes.
The best catches Monday-Friday were by;
On Monday John Glasspool from England up to his friend from their army days kept 2 fish for 5 Lbs 6 oz and returned 3, Mr Edwards out on his own returned 6 Rainbows into the Loch.
Ali Fyvie out with George Mackintosh on Tuesday returned 6 fish. Gavin Dunn with Jim Mackie returned 8 trout, returning 6 fish was George Pellini fishing alone.
On Wednesday, Kelvinside AC out with three boats returned 18 Rainbows, Nigel Muckle fishing solo returned 9, and Mr Penman out with 3 friends returned 23 trout into the Loch.
Thursday saw Mr Lamb fishing solo returning 4 fish.
Friday saw Gavin Dunn and Jimmy Russell who returned 9 rainbows, Andy Lumsden and his boat partner kept 4 fish for 11½ Lbs. Freddie Padden returned 6 trout, while, Balbeggie AC out in the evening kept 16 Rainbows weighing in at 38 lbs, returning 11 fish.
Out on Saturday, Townhill AC with 6 boats kept 15 fish weighing 41 Lbs – see photo of the winner with the heaviest bag and Rainbow being 4 Lbs,
Wellington AC’s six anglers did well, keeping 4 fish for 10 Lbs 10 oz and returning 31. Falkirk Fly Dressers with two boats kept 1 trout for 4 ½ Lbs and returned 13 fish. ABC & D Club with seven anglers kept 8 fish weighing 27 Lbs 14 oz. A 5 Lb Brownie caught with a black/orange Buzzer on a Midge-Tip by solo angler Mr Stewart who was out for a few hours.
Sunday saw Rosyth Civil Service AC with nine boats kept 24 Rainbows weighing 79 Lbs 2 oz and returned 6, Invicta Ladies Club found it hard going keeping 3 fish for 6 Lbs 11 oz. Jimmy Russell out with his son returned 7 trout to the Loch. Perth Civil Service Club kept 11 fish weighing 27 Lbs 2 oz, returning 1. Ali Fyvie with Gavin Dunn returned 6 Rainbows.
